drink sufficient water

Water is the source of all life as we know it today!

‘Drink Water’ was a constant reminder to us from our parents when we were kids which was usually met with the reply – I am not thirsty!

There are multiple theories and advice around about the amount of water to drink, how much to drink at a time, what should be the interval between two water glasses etc.

One Theory Says – Your body is already 50% dehydrated at the instant you start feeling thirsty.

Another One Says – Have that glass of water only when your body tells you that you are thirsty.

Now neither of the theories have substantial evidences and are only theories supported by limited examples.

However, hyperhydration is a phenomenon you must be aware of!

Binge drinking water can be fatal and this is confirmed!

However, if you are an average person like me you need not worry since it is highly unlikely that you will even encounter this problem.

Hyerhydration is observed in athletes and sportspeople who sometimes drink too much water because they start feeling dehydrated.

Water drinking competitions are also witness to hyperhydration since people who are perfectly hydrated drink more water than their kidneys can excrete.

Anyway, as already mentioned, you are highly unlikely to even be hyperhydrated and you should drink at least a minimum of recommended volume of water everyday to ensure good health and keep your weight loss journey on track.

The formula goes like this –

Take your weight in pounds. Halve this number. This is the amount in ounces of your recommended daily water intake.

Say, you weigh 100 pounds. Then your ideal water intake per day should be 50 ounces.

Now, here are a few tips that will ensure that you drink this amount of water everyday –

1. Add two glasses of drinking water to your daily skincare regimen: Drink, cleanse, moisturise, then drink again.

2. Don’t purchase any other drinks: let’s face it, if you have your favourite soda chilling in the fridge, are you honestly going to opt for water?

3. Drink at least one glass of water for every alcoholic drink you down. (It’s also a great way to prevent a hangover!)

4. Set an alarm to beep every hour – this is your reminder to down a glass of water. If you drink only small (6 ounce or 180 ml) cup per hour, you will consume 48 ounces (1.4 liters) in an 8-hour workday.

5. Eat water-rich foods, such as watermelons, which are 92% water. A tomato is 95% water, while an egg is 74% water.

8. Fill a glass jar with water, pop in some fruit-infused tea bags in a glass jar and place it in the sun for naturally brewed tea that has an intense flavour. Drink it chilled for loads of flavour and antioxidant protection.

9. Prefer a sweet sip to plain ol’ water? Fill 1/4 of your glass with 100 percent fruit juice and top off with water or seltzer.
