Why the fried food outside are always stiff and crispier and honestly more tastier? It is simply because they are injected by the trans fat. This is the kind of fat that most of us are unaware about. We are busy enjoying the food but we are least bothered about the harmful ingredient in their very fast food.

Trans fat is a detrimental substance that is added generously in the most of fast food items. The technical term of trans fat is trans fatty acid. They are made from a chemical process of hydrogenation of oils.
This process of hydrogenation coagulates the liquid oils and increases the flavour stability and the shelf life of the oil as well as the food that are made from them.
This trans fat is found in vegetable shortenings, crackers, cookies, snack foods and other fast food items. The other important fact that I am going to put forward is that the famous “French Fries” has trans fat in abundance. The vegetable oils are made suitable for deep frying by hydrogenation process that creates the trans fats. As I mentioned all the fast food carries trans fat in them, and honestly “fries” have an edge.
In reality, trans fat causes the inflation of cholesterol in our body. In the fats family polyunsaturated fats are considered to be good kind and they are found in fresh vegetables. They also help to lower your cholesterol. [Source] But saturated fats are ordained to be bad kind; and trans fats are the worst reckless in the family.
Trans fat are prevalent to add up the LDL cholesterol. LDL is commonly known as “bad” cholesterol. The increase of bad cholesterol is directly raises the chances of cardiovascular heart diseases and stroke.
To back this information I have come across a study where over 80,000 women’s diets were studied. It was found that 5% increase in saturated fat results in increase of heart disease by 17%. On other hand only 2% increase in trans fat increased the risk of stroke by 93%. I was shocked to see the difference in percentile!

Another research carried out by the government itself (on monkeys) clearly states that ingesting trans fats directly contributed to increasing their bad cholesterol, elevated fructosamine, and trends toward higher glucose concentrations. [Source]
This has made the USA based Food and Drug Administration (FDA) take some grave steps for global health.
They have clearly stated that the Nutrition Facts labels on various food items like cookies, crackers, fries, chips, etc should carry the information about trans fats. The companies are obligated to give the exact amount of trans fat in the food items. The FDA rule also confines the term “trans fat free” and restricts the usage of few nutrients and health claims to fat contents too.
This has made the company playing smart with the consumers. There is a fine line between “Zero trans fat’ and ‘No trans fat’. NO trans fat means the particular food item do not contain any trans fat; whereas ZERO trans fat means there are chances of having 0.5 grams of trans fat in the food items.
The sphere of dietary dangers ranks Trans fat very high. Apparently trans fats are clearly accountable for 30,000 deaths a year in United States. The tolls of premature deaths globally are in millions.
So, to take care of your family and friends it is advisable to take some precautionary measures. It is advisable to keep ourselves to liquid oils than hydrogenated oil. One should study the nutrition label carefully. Say no to “vegetable shortening” or “hydrogenated oil” or “partially hydrogenated oil” Any type of trans fat is harmful human health. They lead to series of diseases like cancer, diabetes, liver dysfunction, obesity, and infertility too.
These facts and reviews about trans fat is a shock for all those who are addicted to fries and other kind fast food items. But this should be an eye opener for them to make healthy food choice!
Now remember that although you can think that you simply take some diet pills and continue eating such foods…
But that won’t help, because the effect of ANY pill is also dependent on how you support it. All such “magic products” are simply “aids”, they are not the main source that cure your obesity, they are the ones that “help” you while you take the right decisions for your body.
So summarizing, avoid trans-fats as much as you can, be aware and read food labels before purchasing stuff.
